The Wels Arabian Horse International Show has been a standing date on many people’s calendars since more than twenty years as this event opens its doors for the new show season in Europe. Wels, a small village on the slopes of the Alps, near Linz in Austria, welcomes Arabian horse celebrities from all over the world to compete in front of an exclusive board of judges. During this weekend, Wels transforms into an equine capital as the show always takes place on the premises of the Pferd Wels Fair. Arabian Horse Magazine has been present at the event also this year. We never miss Wels show, first of all for the great and incessant job Mrs. Anne Heiloo and Susanne Werth have always done for it. They have really chipped away tirelessly at this monumental task during the year to let the people enjoy this contest with a perfect organization. We really have to eulogize the show’s main organizers Mrs. Anne Heiloo, the President of the Austrian Arab Horse Society (VVÖ) and the Vice-President, Mrs. Susanne Werth, who have dealt with this duty impeccably. Nearly 100 horses entered the competition and the quality was great. Each Class and Championship had different sponsors. The show was fantastic and the tribunes were full. Many visitors, breeders and VIPs from worldwide arrived to see one of the best shows of the year. The speaker for the occasion was Jaroslav Lacina, President of E.c.a.h.o. The group of judges did a very good job. The show was judged by Dr. Gianmarco Aragno (Italy); Mrs. Claudia Darius (Germany); Mr. Cedes Bakker (Netherlands); Mr. Christian Moschini (Italy); Mrs. Anna Stojanovska (Poland) and from Belgium Mr. Koenraad Detailleur. As Ringmasters Mr. Gerard Oben (Belgium) and in the pre-ring Mr. Peter Hegemann (Germany) and Wolfang Auer (Austria). The Disciplinary Committee did a great job as well thanks to the cooperation of Mrs. Laura Mascagna (Italy); Mrs. Elisabeth Chat (Austria); Mrs. Isabella Auer (Austria). International Finals. There were also additional trophies to be assigned during this edition of the WELS ARABIAN HORSE INTERNATIONAL B SHOW. The Best Mover Int. award went to the bay Grace J (Emerald J × Gomera J) bred by Jadem Arabians, Christine Jamar and owned by VA-Gestüt Emaj, while the Best in Show title with the highest score of judges was taken by the bay D Wasayef Wadee Al Shaqab × Royal Emira) bred and owned by Dubai Arabian Horse Stud. Also this year, as usual, many countries joined with excitement this competition that is always fair and impartial as much as very well thoughtout. This time of the year – in the spring and in this part of Europe, we have one significant show: Wels, a sort of warmup arena before the autumn title shows. That’s why it would be good for breeders to always come here, especially with their young horses, to gain experience in the show arena.
