The Ismer Stud, ecstatically positioned on 200 hectares of grounds, in Ströhen, Germany, is the largest private Arabian Horse Stud in Europe. Approximately 50 mares and 10 stallions form the breeding stock of the stud. The history of the Ismer family can be traced back to the 13th century. For more than 60 years the family is attached to Arabian hor- ses. The stud was founded with the purchase of the first purebred Arabian mare in the late 1950s by Rolf Ismer. The latter was also the founder of the famous Zoo. Since 1960s the Zoo and espe- cially the stud farm grew up under the direction of his son Hol- ger Ismer. Today, Dr. Nils Ismer is the owner of the Zoo and the Farm. The Zoo is just in front of his family house whe- re the family loves to host friends and once a year this very interesting Arabian Horse Event, always peppered with special momen- ts. It took us two days to go and find out the beautiful animals who live in the ‘Tierpark’, visiting the area and attending the shows, in a cosy atmosphere made of joy, shared passion and renewed hope for the future of the breed. In the Zoo, we got struck by the presence of three magnificent specimen of Asiatic fe- male elephants, trained by Mr. Elvis Errani, an expert animal trainer who boasts at his credit three generations of circus trainers. The Interna- tional Days for Arabian Horses en- compassed two shows: The C-Euro- pean Show (ECAHO) starting on Saturday 11 of July at 8:00 am and en- ding on Sun- day 12 of July at 16:00 with a Prizemo- ney sponsored by Europan Breeders Trust followed by the In- ternational B-Show (ECAHO) starting at 14.00 and ending at 16:00. For the two shows two different groups of jud- ges coming from every part of the world were invited. This year, too, it was a fantastic event despite the circumstances due to the spread of Covid-19 pandemic across Europe. As always, Mr. Nils Ismer has proven to be a great master of the house and a top-notch operative, committed to the suc- cess of the show and the dialogue among fellow breeders. Everything was studied in detail, but with ‘simplicity’, wi- thout distorting the true nature of the place. Every day and night a delicious lunch and dinner were offered at the special ‘Tierpark Restaurant’ to the guests. So, we want to thank him and his whole family for the warmth and kindness that made us spend for sure one of the most beautiful weekends of this show-season after the isolation period we all went through. There is no que- stion – you simply must place this Event on your “Must see” agenda. To conclude, a special greeting and see you soon Ismer Family and again thanks for your hospitality from all of us in the Arabian Horse Magazine team.
