Dear breeders and lovers of the Arabian Horse,
EDITORIAL Special Middle East 2022
Dear breeders and lovers of the Arabian Horse,
Amazingly, it's here again! A new year has already begun. Every year around this time, so many of us decide to change something in our lives. New Year's resolutions can range from simple desires to seemingly comprehensive plans for a better life. We all, however, share the hope that something will change, and our life will be different (and better) in 2022.
In Italy, the epidemiological trend of the Covid-19 pandemic has seen a significant increase in infections after the holiday season. The Ministry of Health's new rules and guidelines have reminded us all to take responsibility for our safety in everyday life, and it will be necessary to cling to them at shows as well. While in Italy, the show calendar is still under construction, in the Middle East, the show season has already started with the Ajman Arabian Horse Championship held between January 6th-8th at the prestigious Ajman Equestrian Club, near the city centre. The tour went on with the participation in the Al Dhafrah Arabian Horse Championship from 19th to 23rd January 2022, and it will continue by taking part as a Media partner in the next most crucial competitions in this part of the world throughout winter. So stay tuned!
In this special edition, some rewarding and inspiring moments came along the way when we interviewed Dutch judge Mrs Paula Bohmer, UAE breeder Abdul Rahman Mohamed Sharif AL Baidhaei of Al Jawaher Stud, Italian handler Stefano Zaniboni, Belgian photographer Glenn Jacobs, and the US Riding Couple composed of Phillip and Kelle Soucier. They are all drawn to the Arabian horse, though for very different reasons and for very different ends.
As part of our 'educational concept', we continue to devote space to studying the most refined Straight Egyptian bloodlines, thanks to Domenico Tocchi's captivating article about the dam of distinction Mahroussa and her distinguished family. While William Richardot de Choisey once more allows us to access his precious personal archives and get a hold of unreleased material on Sheikh Hamad Bin Abdullah Al Thani's Collection of treasures and artworks.
It has taken all our hard work and sacrifices over the past year and the beginning of this year to produce the 2022 Special Middle East Edition, which is the fruit of all our efforts. But that only has allowed us to get to current levels, and that will enable us, in the coming years, to provide our loyal readers always with the best of everything 'that is newsworthy' in the magical world of the purebred Arabian Horse.
