INTERVIEWED BY SONIA SMALDONE

Hello Angelo! Hello Federica! Welcome to Arabian Horse Magazine, and thank you so much for accepting our invitation and giving us some of your time! Please introduce yourself to our community. Angelo: Hi everyone, I'm Angelo. I am 27 years old. I was born and raised with Arabian horses around due to the passion handed down to me by my parents for these beautiful animals. For about ten years, I have also started my private breeding program with my partner, with whom I founded Al Jawharah Horse Stud. Federica: Hi, I'm Federica! I am 25 years old. I approached the world of horses from an early age. Unlike Angelo, I grew up in the world of jumping, a discipline I practised until I met Angelo. This is when I came across Arabian horses for the first time. Gosh! It was love at first sight. The passion for riding horses still burns in our heart though. Some of our show horses are also trained under saddle as a matter of fact. Our Al Jawharah Horse Stud, recognizable with the affix JWH, is producing subjects very targeted to the kind of characteristics we want to pass onto our mares' foals. Qualities like type, movement, and body with a beautiful dished head are crucial to us. 2. When and where did you first meet? 2. We met on 28th December 2014 through a friend we have in common. We decided to spend a week together in Bormio on the occasion of the New Year. The more we got to know each other, the more we realized we got made for each other. 3. Angelo, what struck you most about Federica? Federica, same question for you. Angelo: What struck me most about Federica, besides her beauty, was her determination. She always gets what she wants. Sharing my passions and ideas has also played a pivotal role. For sure. Federica: I was very impressed by Angelo's kindness and sensitivity. His supporting my ideas and decisions is so amazing. 4. In your opinion, what are the essential ingredients for a good life as a couple? 4. Honesty, trust and have fun together! 5. Angelo, tell us about your first steps in the Arabian Horse industry. When and why did you decide to pursue a career as a trainer/handler in this sector? 5. As I said earlier, I was born among horses. When my parents started breeding this wonderful breed, I got enchanted by its charisma and elegance. Since I was only a kid, I realized they would be my forever life companions. Together with Federica, obviously! (Giggles) In addition to this, I share this passion with my brother Andrea Boscarino. We have set up the BM Arabian Show Training together. I also share much of my time and ideas with him. 6. Federica, what do you do in life? Are you a horsewoman too? What kind of relationship do you have with horses? 6. I will graduate in dentistry in a year. So horses are not, and will not be, my job but my greatest passion for sure! I approached very young horses at the age of about 5/6 years. I spent the following years practising the discipline of jumping, therefore a completely different environment and horses. Until I met Angelo. Then in 2015, I met these magnificent specimens. I will never separate myself from them. I have decided to combine what I am most passionate about in the horse world, English riding and Arabians. I think Arabian horses can express their charm either free or mounted. 7. Angelo, how much does your work and your commitments with Arabian horses affect your relationship? 7. I do another job, but my spare time is dedicated to horses and show training. It impacts the relationship because there is little time to go on vacation together. But fortunately, sharing this passion with Federica, our holidays are with our horses most of the time. So what can I say? It's me, Federica and the horses! 8. Federica, is there a horse you are particularly fond of? Who is it? 8. The horse that gives me new emotions day after day is the first Arabian mare we have taken together, Mizar Di Loris (Piruet X Emanthenae). From the first time I met her gaze seven years ago, I realized that she was the mare of my life. I think that each of us has a particular horse in our heart, which for million reasons difficult to explain by words fills our hearts and minds. Mizar is an exquisite Polish Arabian mare with whom I have matured a feeling that is hard to explain by words and replicate with other mares. I get emotional just talking about it! 9. Angelo, tell us a little about your recent successes in the show ring as a handler. What are your future goals in this sector? 9. I am a breeder. As such, I want to find new lines for my breeding program. However, keep characteristics of the old lines, which, in my opinion, cannot disappear. Let us remember that the future is beautiful if we respect the past. As for the show ring, all my horses are followed and trained by my brother at BM Show Training. Andrea can understand what the horses need and, consequently, the horses, feeling the respect he feels for them, give their best to his requests. 10. Guys, how and where do you see each other in ten years? Are you going to have your own family? If so, will you educate your children to love horses? 10. In ten years, we imagine ourselves with a son/daughter that we will approach the horse world from day one. Growing up with horses and caring for them educates children to have respect, both towards all kinds of animals and towards people. The whole idea of managing the horses, feeding them, putting them in the paddock, and all the matters behind their management teach children to take on their responsibilities. I also dream of having a breeding herd full of increasingly rare subjects. 11. Finally, would you like to say something to our readers? 11. Love your horses because they, more than anyone, can reciprocate all the love and respect if you give it to them. Arabian horses are sensitive animals and so good at listening and reciprocating. Thank you so much, guys. We wish you all the best. And good luck at the shows!
