From 10th to 11th October, A.N.I.C.A. (Italian National Association of the Arabian Horse) celebrated the 34th Anniversary of the Italian Nationals 2020 at the well-known ‘Horses Riviera Resort’ show-ground located in San Giovanni in Marignano, nearby Cattolica, in the province of Rimini. In compliance with preventive guidelines as provided by the Ministry of Health with regard to Covid-19, A.N.I.C.A. took serious steps to develop a management protocol designed to meet the various needs, both operational and regulatory, so as to guarantee the safety of both visitors and exhibitors, and to minimize any possible chance of transmission. The covered area inside the Horses Riviera Resort was allowed to accommodate a maximum of 200 people, but everyone was required to communicate in advance their presence to A.N.I.C.A. Secretariat by filling an appropriate booking form. 130 Purebred Arabian horses, divided into 12 preliminary categories by sex and age, and strictly born and bred in Italy by Italian breeders, participated in the morphology event. The judges at this 34th edition of the Italian Nationals were as follows: Mrs. Darius Claudia (Germany); Mr. Reisel Gideon (The Netherlands); Mr. Moschini Christian (Italy); Mr. Scanzi Fausto (Italy) and Mr. Den Hartog Robbie (The Netherlands). Disciplinary Commissioners: Mr. Ceccaroni Roberto (Italy); Mrs. Raso Barbaro and Dr. Bona Davide (Italy). Ringmaster: Dr. Mascagna Laura (Italy). General Secretariat: Mrs. Alnovi Marzia and Mrs. Eva Simona (Italy). Speaker: Mrs. Boschini Mirjam (Italy). Music by: Mr. Filippi Coccetta Gianluca (Italy). Doping: Dr. Vet. Zappulla Francesco (Italy). Livestream and Results by: Arabian Essence (Italy). The Championships were inaugurated by Mr. Pellegrini Vincenzo, new President of A.N.I.C.A., who addressed those present with an impassioned welcoming speech to underline that the members of the association have made considerable efforts under current circumstances, organizing and coordinating everything in only ten days; in particular, the painstaking activity carried out by A.N.I.C.A. Secretary Manerba Alberto and A.N.I.C.A. Counsellor Teobaldelli Paolo. Also noteworthy, the presence at the event of Italian equine artist Mr. Mauro Malacarne with his beautiful collection of Arabian Horses portraits and sculptures, and of Mrs. Renata Tosi, Mayor of the touristic neighbouring town of Riccione, in witness of the perfect reception system of the territory for events such as the one here described. The show started on Saturday 10th October at 9:30 and ended up on Sunday 11th October at 19:30 with the following results: In the Futurity Females Championship, first on the podium the chestnut Malika Moniscione (Ajmer Moniscione x Emarra Moniscione SWF) bred and owned by Buzzi Giancarlo and presented by handler Boscarino Andrea. Second place, the bay Tessa di Mar (Dominic M x Isabeau Di Mar) bred and owned by Franchini Marco and presented by handler Giacomo Capacci. Third place, the bay Euforia Regalis (Vivaldi Regalis x Cenerentola Chandra) bred and owned by Regalis Arabians Srl and presented by handler Zoppellaro Diego. In the Yearling Fillies Championship, Gold medal winner the bay CS Rashima (Fa El Rasheem x CS Opportunity) bred and owned by Ciacci Enzo and presented by handler Capecci Paolo. Silver medal winner the grey Madama Moniscione (Ajman Moniscione x Medea Moniscione) bred and owned by Buzzi Giancarlo and presented by handler Boscarino Andrea. CONCLUSION: At the end of a difficult year due to Covid-19 coronavirus, which has also impacted on the Arabian Horse industry, looking at the gates of the Horse Riviera Resort reopen to A.N.I.C.A. was kind of emotional. The Italian Nationals 2020 were possible thanks to the hard work done by A.N.IC.A.|, the generous support offered by the many Sponsors and breeders-friends who believed in such an important event in Italy. The entire event had worldwide exposure as it was broadcast live streaming by A.N.I.C.A. and Arabian Essence websites.
