Psytadel
Embarking on a new journey
"And suddenly you know...It's time to start something new and trust the magic of beginning"
by Nakashen Valaitham
Every so often is our industry, there is a certain form of magic that comes to life when the blood of two stellar individuals is united. Padrons Psyche and the Bey Shah daughters did just this; together they brought to life an era of unparalleled beauty and success with an always relevant impact. When Bob and Janene Boggs bred their beloved Bint Bey Shah to Padrons Psyche for the first time, they expected nothing but greatness and their expectations were met – Psytadel was born.
Psytadel was purchased as a weanling by James Swanepoel of Swatam Arabians and in short, they have created a dynasty in Europe that most likely will never be repeated again. Known as Europe’s premier leading sire, Psytadel has done what few have been able to achieve – he has sired champions in almost every European country and his offspring have won over 100 championships around the world. He is a genotypic and phenotypic giant that has rightfully earned his place among the leaders of the industry.
Psytadel’s parents are two of the most celebrated individuals in the Arabian horse industry; they are luminaries, legends and above all, breed icons. His U.S. Reserve National Champion sire is one of the leading sires of our time and his dam is one of the few mares who truly live up to the definition of an aristocrat. Both his sire and dam have produced champion get or grandget in almost every country where the Arabian is found and have held the number one spots on respective leading lists. And just like his parents and those before them, Psytadel has produced an array of National and International champions in almost every corner of the globe. Whether it is with a Polish, Russian, Spanish or any damline for that matter, Psytadel always improves on the traits of the mare and stamps his foals with a look of high end quality and sublime beauty.
In Europe, two beautiful bays, El Amin and Lady Psyche were the very first to fly the Psytadel flag at the World Championships; they were named Reserve Champion Colt and Reserve Champion Filly in 2002 respectively. Before his untimely death, El Amin followed in his sire’s footsteps by producing a countless number of champions, his most successful to date is the Ajman Stud owned multiple title holder, Mempis 27. Psytadel has produced a countless number of Belgian National Champions some of which include Claudiaa, Psynderella, Ibarelle and Assira-N. The All Nations Cup Reserve Champion Colt, Ali Moniscione and West Coast Cup Bronze Champion Mare, Cara’mel D are both fine representatives of Psytadel’s European get.
The Psytadel offspring have achieved top honors in the United States as well, taking a very special liking towards the Las Vegas Breeders World Cup titles. The dazzling Valentyna F, bred by Forelocks Arabians and currently owned by Al Hawajer Stud, was named Las Vegas Breeders World Cup Gold Champion Yearling Filly in 2009. It was her gorgeous, grey paternal sister, Gloria Apal (whose dam is the All Nations Cup Champion SA Misha Apal) that took home the Las Vegas Breeders World Cup Bronze Champion Senior Mare title that same year. Psytadel’s most successful foal in the U.S. is Pstylin – a beautiful grey mare who was named United States National Champion Futurity Filly in 2005 and continued to win titles at Scottsdale, Buckeye and Regional shows.
Two European bred Psytadel sons, each hailing from successful breeding establishments, are building upon their sire’s legacy and leaving their mark on the breed by producing outrageously beautiful foals. Psyrasic, bred by Osterhof Stud and owned by Scuderia Groane in Italy, has produced a string of champions in Italy, some of which include: SG Wanessa, Qatar Di Mar and Matrix Di Mar. The other son is S.M.A. Magic One, bred by Marnix Criel and owned by Al Zobair Stud. Apart from his showring success, this genetic giant has been making waves in the industry with his superior foals that have been winning in the UAE, Europe and the States. But one particular daughter has been winning hearts and titles around the world – the exotic, ultra-typey U.S. National, Vegas Gold and Menton Gold Champion Mozn Albidayer.
Many would agree that despite the vast number of champions that Psytadel has produced, his ultimate gift to the industry are his exquisite daughters; greys, bays or chestnuts, they all have one thing in common – they produce one champion after another. It is through these daughters that he has established himself as a leading sire of excellence and that many breeding programs have been able to make their dreams a reality.
Osterhof Stud’s AB Nastrapsy was an ethereal flea-bitten mare who gave the stud more than four international champions some of which include Abu Dhabi Gold Champion Ajmaniah OS, European Gold Champion Nastya OS and Dubai Gold Champion Calypso OS. The gorgeous Gloria Apal, owned by DST Arabians, produced two outstanding sons by Justify: Las Vegas Breeders World Cup Silver Champion Apalo and Menton Silver Champion Glorious Apal. And the breathtaking Alishya produced the Israeli National Champion ASH Mariella and the Kuwait International Champion Yasoup Al Muawd. When bred to RFI Farid, Haras Del Mar’s WW Imania Apal produced one of the most exotic fillies in the ring today, World Silver Champion HDM Maria Apal. It was Psynecia that produced the charismatic PSAIAHF Gold Champion Bourhani Sharifa and Lady Nina DD that produced twice World Silver Champion, Ascot DD.
Just like Padrons Psyche did with the Bey Shah daughters and QR Marc did with the Ekstern daughters, ‘The Champion Maker’ WH Justice nicked extremely well with the Psytadel daughters bringing forth magnificent individuals to life. The most famous foal from this cross is a Gold All Nations Cup, European and Menton Champion; she is the angelic enchantress FM Gloriaa out of Psity Of Angels. FM Gloriaa’s exotic beauty has enabled her to earn straight twenties for Type and Head & Neck on every occasion and for many, she is a symbol of perfection. When Djasira Princess Psytadel and Pamira Bint Psytadel were bred to WH Justice, they gave rise to the glorious Scottsdale International Champion AJ Djamilja and the amazing All Nations Cup and European Silver Champion RP Burj Al Arab respectively. And it was Cafra Arabians’ Maharani CF who added glory to this cross by producing the European Silver Champion Majeedah CF owned by Al Khashab Stud.
When a stallion hones his craft in such a historic manner, it is bound to draw attention and intrigue frompeople around the world. The team at Tehran Stud, Iran was mesmerized by Psytadel and all that he had achieved and knew that he would be the perfect fit for the stud. They wanted to experience this greatness for themselves and were determined to have it. And ironically, just like Psytadel’s sire, Padrons Psyche and his grandsire, Bey Shah, embarked on new journeys when they were sold as older stallions to Knocke Arabians and Stoneridge Arabians respectively, Psytadel now embarks on a new journey of his own. A journey that will take him to Iran, that will elevate his name, increase his impact on a global scale and place him amongst the immortals of the breed.
