EDITORIAL n.3/2017

Dear Breeders and Friends of the Arabian horse,

Be sure not to miss out the 2017 Aachen issue of Arabian Horse Magazine as it will bring you right at the very heart of the Arabian Horse realm and its incredible stories. We will delve into the lives of some of the finest specimen of the breed with the likes of: Alexxanderr, Psytadel, Vivaldi Regalis, ZT Magnofantasy and the cute filly Obayana. So far, the Arabian Horse Magazine crew has not skipped one single date on the “Al Shaqab-Italian Show Tour 2017” which is more than half way through its course. We landed in Roccalumera in Sicily for the 4th C International Show, then we flew up to Manerbio, north Italy, for the European C – Event; then back again in Sicily for the Arabian Stars in the Night - C National Show, in the picturesque Capo d’Orlando to end up in Bergamo to join in the 5th edition of the Purebred Arabian Horses C Show. From its part, the international show scenery has offered to the enthusiasts of the breed across Europe many opportunities to catch up with long-term friends, be they breeders, judges, handlers, trainers or simply lovers, as well as the chance, often quite interesting, to start new acquaintances on the main shows; to exchange ideas about the latest trends in the industry of the Arabian horse, philosophizing as usual about ‘genotype’ and ‘phenotype’ to tackle the modern breeding concepts in Europe, in the U.S. and in the Middle East. Reason for which, we included quite some entertaining ‘bits’ of the most important international contests we put on schedule: The Mediterranean & Arab Countries - Arabian Horse Championship in Menton on the glamorous French Riviera, the Arabian Horse Festival Alsace Grand Est in Rosières aux Salines, France; the International Days for Arabian Horses in Strohen, Germany; The Elran Arabian Cup at Castle Alden Biesen in Bilzen, Belgium; The West Coast Cup in the picturesque Belgian city of Koksijde, near the coastline with the North Sea and the Arabian Horse Show in Alsace. Guided by our ‘educational concept’, we took part in the 2017 European Summer Sale that will certainly be engraved in the memories of all guests for years to come. In Cortona, Giacomo Capacci Arabians welcomed over 300 invitees to the ‘European Summer Sale’ with genuine Italian hospitality. Fifteen stunning specimen were magically presented to the crowds along with a few special guest stallions to represent their offspring in the sale. We learned that buying a Purebred Arabian at auction can be an exhilarating experience – the fast pace… the competition… the satisfaction of making the winning bid! But we also learned that a horse auction is an indispensable tool for newcomers to the game, but also for veterans of the breeding sector who have a chance to refresh their minds about the myriad aspects of Arabian horses sales. With that in mind, we sincerely think our Magazine can be a valuable review for the horse owner, both the novice horse breeder for which it can be a remarkable guide and the experienced one, as an educational reference volume about horse families, different breeding approaches and future developments of the breed. Illustrations and photos have been beautifully chosen with articles rich in stories about the Arabian horse, about the ‘people’ who live around them and for them, and who, thanks to this noble creature have found the meaning of life…
