N. 3/2024

Dear breeders and lovers of the Arabian Horse,

We are happy to welcome you to our Autumn edition 2024! The exhibition season we left behind has been dominated and still is, by two prestigious global circuits showcasing Arabian horse beauty and conformation, founded by President Jan Tops, a giant of the equestrian world, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Arabian Horse Society (EAHS), with the follow-up of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of EAHS. The Global Champions Arabian Tour 2024, the novel €17 million international championship series, and the 6th Emirates Global Arabian Horse Cup of 2024 have purposely interested state-of-the-art venues across Europe and the Middle East, embracing a global audience through live events and digital content. This new approach has signalled a new chapter in Arabian horse sports, ensuring that the beauty of Arabian horsemanship is accessible to anyone, anywhere. Arabian Horse Magazine went above and beyond to ensure Press and Media coverage of important championships within these two massive equestrian circuits. Regrettably, we could not cover all the legs in the Arabian Peninsula because our staff was participating in several popular European competitions in the same period. Therefore, we were twice in The Netherlands, for the Eurozone Cup and Dutch Masters in May and the GCAT leg in Valkenswaard in July. Twice in Belgium, for the Bruges AH Event-European Show in June and for the West Coast Cup in August. Twice in Poland, first for Tarnow’s All-Polish Arabian Horse Championship in July and the Pride of Poland in August. Our stop in the Czech Republic for the Prague InterCup in late August coincided with the 9th leg of the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup. Lastly, we attended the GCAT leg in Rome at the historic Circus Maximus, which was a huge success. The AHM team put in tremensous effort to tour and travel. But it paid off with numerous acknowledgements from the organisers, unexpected exceptional achievements, new friendships and collaborations, and unforgettable memories to bring home. In this Autumn edition of 2024, in addition to the more technical show reports, readers will also enjoy a variety of cultural essays and interviews with emerging or veteran figures from the international Arabian horse community, shedding light on the passion, dedication, and expertise that drive these individuals in their pursuit of excellence. You will read about the 40th anniversary of Michaela Weidner’s Murana Stud (Germany), the 1st Forum in Morocco by William Richardot de Choisey (France), Professor Majeed Khan’s dossier on the origins of the Arabian Horse (Saudi Arabia), Painter Valentino Robinson’s artistry (US), Photographer Soheil Gholami (Iran), Novelist Carmel Rowley (Australia), Halters creator Fady Shiekh Sroujieh (Jordan), and Sculptor Kathi Bogucki (US). So, dear readers, you’ll have plenty to read about and keep you occupied during the sweet Autumn afternoons. Meanwhile, anticipation and excitement in the community continue to build as the GCAT 2024 moves towards its grand finale in Riyadh. An epic conclusion to an extraordinary equestrian circuit awaits all of you in the Saudi capital. See you there!
